Bird04, are you hearing that OSA has come to their senses and going to let Griffin play up in the 03 silver?

Yes they will but Clinton is in ocl because there coach made a bad decision to put them in 11v11 gold last, the same mistake nysa and amous coaches are making this season.

Don't know how them playing in gold will be mistake.  Other than Griffin(which may not be in U12 anyway), they will be competitive with everyone else.  May not win but should make for good games with everyone.

South Lakes better perform on the field this fall after all this complaining.  They better compete and win games in Gold or dominate in Silver.  Depending where they end up.
We competed and won games last year ok soccer, that's why we're complaining along with every other club but ofc who always seems to get favor:)

I don't necessary disagree with you on what OSA has done. My main disagreement was with you calling it a mistake by NYSA and Amos. They are just taking advantage of OSA's mistake of putting them there. They will be competitive.

I do agree that one if not both of them should have been included in play-in tournament for spot in gold.

Good luck this fall. I'm sure you will do well and come on here and tell us about it.

Not quite what I've heard! May be that Blitz, Parker, and SLSC will be playing for two spots, not just one...Confirmation pending.....

The day after I posted this I heard that Griffin had changed their mind and now wanted to play up. But when I posted this the word was they weren't playing up cause they had to play in OCL. I hope Griffin does play up. It will suck their first season but it will get better as they promote through leagues. I wish OSA would just let them play in Silver, but that makes too much sense.

Curious why Amos 03 is allowed to play up in OPL GOLD, but the 04 and 05 teams (who also want to play up in OPL) have to start in OCL?

03 Amos did play through the leagues... They have been playing up the past 2 full seasons.  They had to work their way up from the bottom to the top...

Did they have to start in the depths of OCL?

It was a little different back then... They started in OPL 2... but there wasn't really an OCL for that age group at the time... OFC 03 came in second behind them and didn't promote so they decided to come back to their own age group... IMO they should have stayed playing up too.

OSA is-was and will probably remain clueless. From doing the whole "one" season to this mess to making it extremely hard for the better teams to play up. That said, until the clubs hold the leadership accountable we will be having these same discussions yearly.

People on this board know none of this is rocket science. Yet OSA can't seem to use the remotest of common sense.

I've posted this in two spots as its worthy of mentioning the absolute joke that OSA is. OSA's explanation for how they came to the seedings is that they used the points per game method (if you look on their website there is pdf for each age group with this). Essentially, they took the 4 teams with the highest PPG and then let the others play in.

The fault in this method is there are not common opponents as they only used OPL games and didn't factor anything else in. So you play weaker opponents and win more your PPG is higher. They gave equal weight between the 11 v 11 bracket and the 8 v 8 bracket. Further, they didn't apply the same analysis in other age groups. If they had those Gold divisions would look totally different.

OSA also has the gall to say they believe the 4 best teams have spots in the top tier. What they are saying is TSC coaches are idiots as their third team must be better than their second team.

Shame on OSA. You did not discuss this with coaches and are not resorting to lies and propaganda to support this. There needs to be a change of leadership at OSA or Oklahoma clubs should explore forming their own leagues through US Club.
