The sponsor hasn't been released yet but the philanthropist is not related to the team.

Re: 2004 True Age Landscape
Just to confirm. TSC did lose a top 05 (definition of top 05 = played nearly every minute of every game last 2 years and plays multiple positions as needed). She wanted to play with classmates, but also has a passion to improve as an individual player and based on my 40 plus years experience...Michael Moritz is the perfect fit for her goals. However, the TSC 05' group will be just fine with a great coach, great group of girls and parents. Don't be surprised if they come back for ECNL!
On a side note I am still trying to figure out which 05 left because they were worried about playing time???

Re: 2004 True Age Landscape
The girls I was talking about who was worried about playing time ended up not making the team so obviously not the player 04Eastside was talking about. The player going to Blitz from the 05 team and playing for Moritz is a great player and will be missed.

Re: 2004 True Age Landscape
Any concerns with NCAA rules around paying for a kid to play when their isn't a financial hardship? I know they are young know but it still counts.

Re: 2004 True Age Landscape
Look at all the Arkansas teams that are sponsored and other states do it a lot. It's a sponsorship though from what it sounds like, not paying the kids to play. I'm sure the parents will still have to pay something.

If AAU basketball gets away with sponsors. Don't see a problem with soccer doing it

Re: 2004 True Age Landscape
It's a lil early, but don't think NCAA rules apply if your sponsering the entire team. Believe it becomes a concern when you single out a player or two. My niece has been on a top competitive basketball team sponsored by Nike for 3 years now. No problems since they supported the entire team instead of favoring a player or two.

Re: 2004 True Age Landscape
40 years experience ??? Moritz has aged well. And some would say his failure to win state this year with the LOADED amount of talent on that team doesn't speak well. That being said, I'm sure he runs good enough sessions for that team to compete against the OPL teams in Oklahoma. The announcement that will be coming out in the next few weeks about where pre ECNL teams will likely be playing next fall will only further elevate the excitement for the opportunities those girls have ahead of them.
Not sure how someone turns a sponsorship into "paying players". If a business chooses to sponsor a team for a tax write off as advertisement they most certainly can. Lexus on TSCH jerseys, Clorox on NW Ark teams etc.

Re: 2004 True Age Landscape
I was just asking the question because when am older kid of mine went thru the NCAA Clearing House many of the questions asked about stuff being paid for like uniforms, training fee etc... I do not know what is or is not allowed but there where a number of questions around that.

Re: 2004 True Age Landscape
If i hear "ECNL" one more time on this board i think i'm going to puke down my leg. ECNL is good for some, just plain expensive for others.
It will be fun watching the clubs scurry when ECNL clubs apply and defect to Academy, diluting the level and reach of the ECNL. US Soccer is counting on ECNL clubs applying, and they will in large numbers. That is why they realized they did not need to work with ECNL.
In the end TSC et al better hope they get the DA. Even then with how it calculates age groupings it will be fun watching parents.

Re: 2004 True Age Landscape
Since ECNL has become the highest league for girls soccer in the United States, you shouldn't be discouraged that it is frequently mentioned on a competitive soccer forum. If DA or any other league takes its place, I'm sure the new league will be discussed just as much. No reason to fret.

Re: 2004 True Age Landscape
918 - when mentioned in context its one thing. when brought up in every conversation its another. This is how its used on here:
Q. The sky sure is blue today.
A. yes it is, blue is the color of ECNL which TSC has.
Q. Wow, you should be proud of your DD for making the superintendents honor roll.
A. I am and she may play ECNL
Q. What did you have to eat tonight.
A. Well, i had steak and let me tell you about ECNL diet the coaches recommend.
Q. Man that OFC 01/SLSC 02 team is good
A. Well they don't have to play TSC 01/02 ECNL team because ECNL teams are automatically better.
Point is, TSC is fortunate to have ECNL. They may have some very good teams. However, its not the end all be all that is consistently regurgitated on here.

Re: 2004 True Age Landscape
Oakie. Its not. It really isn't. And beside. I'm on the other side of the state so it is completely irrelevant. However, almost every TSC parent invokes the term "ECNL" in at least 70% of their posts. Instead of the glove doesn't fit you must acquit, if Johnny Cochran and OJ were on this board their whole defense to the murder charges would have been "My DD goes to TSC and plays ECNL"TSC010405 wrote:Or --- Is It? I was joking. Obviously ECNL is not for everyone and it does get used a lot. Yes this is Oakie75. I changed jobs and don't have access to that log in anymore and forgot password. Nice detective work though.

Re: 2004 True Age Landscape
I have kids that played ECNL and USYS (including USYS National League)....
ECNL is not the only path to playing college it is just much easier...
The cost difference between a USYS National League Team, SRPL team attending lots of showcases and ECNL (OK ECNL) is not that different... in looking at it by total cost if you include College ID camps I would say ECNL might be cheaper.... my reason for that is my ECNL player knew what colleges where really interested because they showed up for her games at national events and so we where able to limit the college ID camps to ones that she was interested in and schools that had shown an interest in her (So 2 ID camps during the summer and maybe 1 during the winter).... The non ECNL path the coaches just where not around as often so our approach to college ID camps was more of a shot gun approach... i.e. we attended many more camps like 4 in the summer and 2 in the winter/spring

Re: 2004 True Age Landscape
Question for the Moritz posters, do you have experience playing for him or are you passing on comments 2nd hand? He's coached two of my daughters practices and I didn't see the coach that some are posting. He is very quiet, which I guess some parents might like, but not a particularly strong trainer. I personally think Robbie is a better trainer. Has Moritz coached any of your kids teams that have done well?

Several OKC girls AND boys (along with Kansas and Arkansas as well) play for TSCH. ENERGY....bring your daughter too!
I appreciate the witty humor, so we'll find a spot for your daughter.
