918, when you guys play jr ecnl, do you play 9v9 or 11v11? Just wondering...

JR ECNL games are 11v11. Our next event is Oct 29th & 30th at Mowhawk Park in Tulsa if anyone wants to watch. The u15 national team coach will be there to watch JR ECNL teams from OK, TX, CO and MO. Should be some great games.

918, are you allowed to carry a roster for 11v11 that meets 9v9 requirements? That has to be maddening going back and forth between real soccer and the 9v9 pseudo soccer stuff? How do your girls handle the change between a tiny field with a hockey net vs. real soccer? Our coach here in OFC is basically waiting for us to be 11v11 before he takes the team into real tournaments and challenges. We played 11v11 last year and were forced to play 9v9 this year. I feel like we have wasted this year, but what do I know? You do realize we split with your team last year (it was Correno last year), with each team winning their home games. I know our club is not ECNL, but our girls and coaches are legit. Of course this year, our one match together happens to be in Tulsa. Odd how that happened to work out in TSC favor. Like you, we want to be challenged! Blowing out teams and letting your fullbacks play forward are fun and all, but it doesn't really help both teams get better. I still don't understand why we can't be playing 11v11 right now! Super frustrating...

Completely agree NeverPlayedSoccer. The kids have not liked going back to 9v9 at all and they have a really hard time adjusting and getting energized for games. We even had one player quit last week because the transition has been so frustrating with 9v9 and OPL. 11v11 this weekend was completely different. The kids came alive and really enjoyed playing. I haven't seen them so happy since last season. Although I see the ultimate benefit in playing small-sided soccer, it has been very frustrating for the players to go back to 9v9.

I definitely remember the tough games against OFC last year and I love the matchup. Both teams play very similar and it's just good soccer all the way around. It's 05 Bedlam at its best.

Having said that, our team has changed quite a bit from last season. We only have 4 players from last year's Carreno team and the others came from 4 different teams that seemed to have played 4 different styles of soccer. This has been our biggest challenge - trying to get all of the girls on the same page and playing the same style of soccer. Coach Beattie has done a very good job in such a short time but we are still a season away from putting it all together.

We also need 2-3 more players for our 11v11 JR ECNL games. This weekend, we had to borrow an 06 and even an 07 just to have enough players. We played well, but we would have won every game with 2-3 strong players - particularly a forward, midfielder and defender. If we can add those players next year I think we will win the Texas Conference of JR ECNL.

If the schedule lined up, is there any rule about picking up a couple of ofc players for your ECNL matches?

Pretty sure that is allowed at the coaches discretion....

ECNL uses US Club while OK uses USYS. There is technically no conflict between the 2. In older ages & past years, OFC has had some young women play with the FC Dallas ECNL team when available.

It MAY be similar to the developmental player on the boys DA circuit. There, DP boys are only allowed a certain # of games I think.

Not sure how the Gotsoccer rankings are done.

918, Just found out this week that we will be without our keeper and a forward when we play you guys. It happens to be scheduled during our fall break. We will have one sub for the game...ugh.
