Re: Spring OPL
Blitz 04 and OFC WHITE are tied, they play each other in a few weeks and the winner of that will be promoted. Don't think it's a sure thing for OFC WHITE yet.
OSA's website says the top 2 OCL teams will be promoted to silver and the bottom 2 silver teams will be relegated down. So TSC 05 and OFC 05 should both be moving up.

Re: Spring OPL
I am assuming the winners of division 1 national and American standings will move up to OPL 2. Which would make populista right.
I do agree that OPL 2 isn't decided yet. One game left for the opportunity to move to OPL 1.

Re: Spring OPL
Oh I see. I assumed the American bracket was higher up than the National, and both promoted teams would come from it. Will be another wasted season for OFC 05 or TSC 05 if either of them gets stuck in OCL again. Teams were forfeiting their games to them because there is such a big difference in level of play, their only competition was each other. Hopefully OSA will take this into consideration.

Re: Spring OPL
Sorry folks. My bad. I should never try something like this late at night!?! I jumped the gun in two places on the Girls side.
1. OCL promotions are not decided yet. Div. 1 National and Div. 1 American winners both promote. And neither of those sub-divisions is decided yet. In my quick look at the standings last night, I didn't realize they play 10 (not eight) games, so standings changes are still possible.
2. Promotion UP from OPL Silver is not yet decided. I looked at that before yesterday's Blitz-WSA game and, again, spaced on the total games left to be played by OFC and Blitz.
Again, my sincere apologies. At least the Boys side is right (I hope)!
I'll repost when it's all settled. Unfortunately, that won't be until December, after the OFC White - Blitz game.

Re: Spring OPL
Everyone should feel free to congratulate via phone call, email or other means of communication the morons running OSA. In particular make sure you let the staff and Board president know the disservice they are doing for Oklahoma Soccer.
Essentially, they collected money while this entire fall season has been a waste for so many teams. Because of their choice to use a PPG matrix (which is unsound given it does not have a commonality of opponents) we have teams running up scores on other teams and little to no competitive balance. What they have done in the 05 age group is even worse by guaranteeing certain clubs OPL tier 1 next year simply by the brackets they were put in.
There is a simple solution. Terminate the OSA staff and bring people in who will listen and do the right things. This season has a been an unmitigated disaster. As the one poster noted, both OFC 05 and TSC 05 are essentially having a wasted year.

Re: Spring OPL
Its time for some real competition. No more cupcake teams for this Griffin 04 team. Unfortunately I am not sure if the 03 silver will be much better. Not sure what alternatives are out there.

Did south lakes 04 really beat Blitz 04 13-2 in NYSA final or is that a typo?

Nah,somebody fat fingered it, 0-0 regulation, 2 5min OT, cosmos won 3-2 shootout. Absolute dog fight, although they kicked our butts sat nite.

Re: Spring OPL
Won't matter for the Griffin 04 team... They are not going to have any competition in the 03 bracket either... Gold or Silver. The good teams from the Gold bracket moved out to SRPL for the spring season. Not that the team will look the same next year with the age change anyway! Next fall everything will be different... The good 03s will move to ECNL and the others will go SRPL. And the 04s will be left to build a team with other 04s... These long time glory teams will all change and it will start from scratch in some cases...

Re: Spring OPL
Looks like Blitz 04's are moving up (though it was close with OFC WHITE), NYSA moves down to silver, and TSC SHARP 04 and TSC 05 CARRENO move up to silver. Stinks for OFC '05's to have to stay in OCL, might be better to not pay the money to play the league and just set up scrimmages and play in tournaments this spring.
So will OFC '05 and TSC '05 play for state in '05 age group or '04 age group?

State Cup is always comprised the teams own age group... No playing up in State Cup.

Re: Spring OPL
My major question is how is OSA going to "group" teams next year with pure age? Do the top 04 finishers remain the top 04 teams? Crazy stuff going down for next year!

Re: Spring OPL
Team keeping 9 or more players rostered to the same team will remain the same team by rankings... I would imagine there will be a few cases of dual rostered players to get around the system. We will see as it gets closer for sure.
