Plano Labor Day Tournament
Does anyone think any Oklahoma Teams have a shot at winning in Plano?
NOKC 05 Boys are playing their first official 11v11 matches at this tournament. Trial by fire I guess and the pool draw appears to be tough. The TXN and TXS teams will have an advantage since they have been playing 11v11 already. They also get to play stiffer competition every weekend. Looks like a number of them play in the 04 divisions when they can. I think the boys will hang with the best of them though. We'll know where they stand after the very first game in a tough bracket.
I do think the OFC 04 Girls will do well in the U11 Silver bracket. The 05 boys scrimmaged them on Sunday and they seem to be a pretty good physical team. One thing I did notice was that they had trouble generating offensive opportunities. The boys shut them down fairly well. It didn't seem like they had the speed up front that they need.
I don't know much about any of the other age groups or teams.
It would be cool if the OFC 04 Girls would stick around High Point Park and cheer on the boys who play right after them at 9:15 on Field K.

Kepley 06 has a very good shot. TSC Kitterman a moderate shot. From what I can tell. Will have to check the others more closely. OFC 03 Girls a fair shot, too, along with Amos 03 Girls.

Yeah...Agree with most all of those. Is OFC Girls 01 playing? They, too, are very solid. Not sure about Amos 04, but hopeful!

Looks like Oklahoma teams did quite well actually. OFC, Norman, Southlakes, TSC, NEOFC, Blitz, Bartlesville all brought home 1st place trophies and some second place trophies too. I was surprised to see so many OK clubs get teams to the finals. And most that got there...won. I think I saw a one where OK teams played each other in the finals.

Re: Plano Labor Day Tournament
I wanted to see who all played at fields other than Highpoint Park and Moss Park and get thoughts on the field conditions. The NOKC 05 and 06 boys played on the Moss Park fields and it was embarrassing how poor those fields were. Here's a picture of the dirt pile. That little bit of green you see is not grass, it's spurge. There wasn't one blade of grass in the whole complex. Seriously, the whole field was like this as well as the ones we walked by to get to field 7 (or 9 depending on what sign you looked at)
Field K at Highpoint park was at least grass, but sloped like a green run at a ski resort. Maybe next year, instead of letting in every team that registers, they can limit registration and play on the better fields.
