Re: Blitz Tournament
bigdady -
You're confusing Umelo RED with Umelo GOLD.
I grant you Umelo GOLD is a great team, but they are playing up in U12 in this tourney!
Umelo RED is a good "B" team, but they only play OPL 8v8, and should not give any of the OPL 11v11 teams too serious a challenge . . . yet.

Re: Blitz Tournament
Based on gotsoccer it was Umelo Red...unless you know something different, I'm going to believe gotsoccer posting.

By far the 2 strongest teams -- Air Capital and WSA -- were placed in the same bracket (B), apparently leaving Blitz 05 (playing up) with relatively easy shot at getting to the final.
If you aren't providing semifinal games, why not weight the brackets evenly to produce a final involving the two best teams?!?
I would argue Bracket A is by far the stronger bracket of the two:
Umelo's "B" team did very well at Beat the Heat (beating WSA 6-0 and only losing to OFC top team 2-3). Blitz 05 is far and away the second best team 05 team in the state and has already won two 11v11 tournaments this year (including beating several teams that play in the top division of 04 OPL including teams WSA has lost to). Not to mention NOKC 05 Red which is hands down the best 05 team (has beaten Blitz 05 almost every time they have played over the years) in the state and is used to playing very high level competition and most of the roster is used to playing up a lot.

Academy
What I noticed at first glance was only one NOKC team this year (05b red), no ESC teams this year, more KC teams this year.
Out of state last yr: 1 in u8 boys, 3 in u9 boys, 8 in u10 boys, 1 in u8 girls, 3 in u9 girls, 4 in u10 girls
Out of state this yr: 2 in u8 boys, 4 in u9 boys, 3 in u10 boys, 1 in u8 girls, 3 in u9 girls, 3 in u10 girls
U11-U13
There are 11 v 11 brackets for girls u11. Only 1 out of state for u11 girls (3 last yr); 9 for u11 boys (8 last yr).
U12: 8 out of state for boys (3 last yr); 0 for girls (5 last yr).
U13: 5 out of state for boys (7 last yr); 0 for girls (3 last yr).
Only NTX team I noticed last yr was FC Divas 02, who played in silver bracket. I did not see any NTX teams this year.
Tourney seems very similar to the fall Blitz last year.
07 boys have a couple of ESC teams but no NOKC teams

Actually, I think the BtH Tournament schedule got it wrong, and GotSoccer just picked that up. The team that played in BtH was the team that plays OPL 11v11 this season, and that is "Gold". Plus, since BtH is a season tune-up tourney, it doesn't make sense that an OPL 8v8 team ("Red") would tune up 11v11.

I hope you are right about those 05 teams playing up - makes for a better tournament. If one of them wins the tourney, I'll gladly eat crow!!
I will agree that Bracket A looks to have a lot more parity than B; so in that sense is more "competitive" than B.

Re: Blitz Tournament
Brackets are down...wonder how much modifying is going to happen.
I'm guessing all 3 brackets of u11g. Anyone else?

Populista- get ready to eat some crow because that 05 Nokc team is legit.

Re: Blitz Tournament
It's not crow eating time yet! But do feel I owe an apology to Blitz tourney directors, if they even follow this board.
I popped off this morning about uneven brackets without doing my homework. I've now had a chance to look at the records of the 05 teams playing up, and they are highly competitive and seem to fairly balance the brackets.
I know producing a good tourney can be a thankless job. Sorry for making it tougher.
