2016 Sate and Pres Cup Results
So I heard that OFC had 12 or 14 champs and the next closest club had 5 total champs. I never take what I hear on the fields to be absolute truth plus I can't even remember the exact numbers I heard. Lol. Can someone post the results of champs by clubs for both cups and both boys and girls? I don't even know where to get that info...thanks!

Re: 2016 Sate and Pres Cup Results
State Cup Results show that on the girls side it’s a pretty mixed bag. OFC and TSC grip seems to have lessened on the younger sides but they still maintain that grip with the 2000s and older. I think the next year will be very interesting on the girls side. Boys side I don’t see much change at this point. 2017 should be more interesting. The boys side OFC clearly has what appears to be the strongest boys group.

Re: 2016 Sate and Pres Cup Results
Thanks for the info! So State Cup was:
OFC - 8
TSC - 3
NYSA - 2
SLSC - 1
Girls it looks like OFC 3 had most followed by NYSA 2, followed by TSC and SLSC that each had 1. So I get confused when I hear people say TSC has lockdown on girls soccer in the state. Is it just because TSC has ECNL? Can anyone confirm or deny if any of those ECNL players play in the State Cup even if their ECNL teams don't?
Does anyone have Pres Cup results?

Re: 2016 Sate and Pres Cup Results
If your looking at presidents cup that is wholly irrelevant IMO.
Let me break it down. First off, this last year I think 02s through 99s did not have to play TSC’s first team because of ECNL. No one can say for sure what those results would have been but my best speculation would have been TSC would have had more. The book makers would have made TSC the favorites in at least 1 of those 3 age groups. The 05s – 03s is interesting. The 05s is interesting because TSC’s top 05 team was not in the 8 v 8 state cup thus giving OFC much less competition. Further my understanding of that and several of those games was that it went to PKs or was close. Further, I personally don’t put much stock into an 8 v 8 state champ. It becomes more about who was the biggest team on a crowded field rather than the best team. That said, the fact that TSC only won one state title in those groups is interesting.
I would also note the following. Over the last few years TSC has subsumed eastside soccer through ECNL and stole, borrowed and/or kids chose to come to them. This use to be the case on the west side where at U12 the best players found their way to OFC (I would reference OFC dominance from 01s through 99s on girls side). However, from the 02s down the migration to OFC has slowed dramatically which has greatly affected their competitiveness in those age groups IMO. I don’t know if OFCs 02s were in the top 3 of that age bracket. The 03s did well in state cup but actually finished behind SLSC and OFC in SRPL. 04s everygame was a battle. An example was this spring SLSC played OFC 3x. There was two ties (one went to pk though) and OFC won the other. That said, I think OFC and SLSC would both admit those games could have gone either way. The 05s is interesting. I noted that NYSA was competitive with OFC on the 11 v 11 scale in those age groups.
My personal take is the mass migration of the top talent to OFC has slowed or stopped in recent years hurting them. TSC still gets it through their ECNL but with things happening with blitz this could be altered to a degree. It will be interesting to see how the soccer landscape changes by the fall of 2017 as my crystal ball shows numerous scenarios that could dramatically alter, change and/or equalize who the public considers as the top clubs.

Re: 2016 Sate and Pres Cup Results
If you are referring 05 Careno, OFC 05 played them twice in the fall 11v11 and split the games. So Assuming TSC would win that is a bit of a stretch. The reason OFC 05 had so many close games in state cup was because they played up and 11v11 all year. That is a lot to ask of 11 yr olds to play on a big field with a big net then switch for the last tourney of the year. If anything their winning the cup speaks to how dominant this team really is.
Can you speak to TSC players from ECNL teams playing on other teams for state cup? Does that happen at all?
Interesting take on the younger ages for girls, I can see what you are saying based on the results you definitely have a point.

Re: 2016 Sate and Pres Cup Results
Hold on. I never said or assumed TSC would have won. I said ofc faced much less competition. that said it went to pks from what I understand with an opl silver team. Again, I think this is a product of the 8 v 8 game and a reason I don't like it for certain players and teams
While it's something to be proud of I don't think a state title in 8 v 8 at u11 is something most on this board values as compared to 11 v 11. Not any hate but just my honest opinion.

Sounds like your kid played on OFC 05.

Re: 2016 Sate and Pres Cup Results
I'm with you. After playing 11v11 all year it was painful to watch 8v8. I would much rather played up and lost then win at 8v8.
You can say what you want about tying in 8v8 but anyone watching those games could see the dominance on the field but didn't show in goals. Have your forwards shoot on a soccer goal all year then the last tournament of the year make them shoot on a hockey net and see how many shots go wide. Lol.
Another year of 9v9 ugh! Then we get to play real soccer!

Your right those goals at NOKC are very small.

Re: 2016 Sate and Pres Cup Results
ECNL girls do not play for State Cup teams at TSCH. I know they do for OFC, but they play ECNL for other clubs. I have an 01 and she plays for the 01 team that plays state cup. So there were 18 other 01 girls that play ECNL that did not play in the State Cup. I know for sure that age group would be a lot more competitive if the ECNL girls played State Cup.

Thanks for the info. I knew the ECNL teams didn't play, I was just wondering if any of the players jumped over to a team that did just for the tourney. Sounds like none of that happens.
