03/02 Composite ECNL
The verdict is in and this team looks solid!!! Congrats to all of the players that made this team! I believe it will be a very positive experience and great opportunity for these players to grow!!! Can't wait to see what this team does! Great mix of players from some good teams too!

Re: 03/02 Composite ECNL
In breaking news, I just heard that ECNL is NOT sanctioning the U15-U17 composite teams in the Texas league...don't know if true or not, but a major bummer if true. Yikes! Anyone with any confirmation of this?

Doesnt matter if all the Texas conference teams agree on having a composite league.

Re: 03/02 Composite ECNL
This is what all of the ntx and stx clubs are saying... They are all holding tryouts and building teams... There was mention that it was being tested in the Texas conference to start.
Purpose of League
The ECNL Composite League would be composed of member clubs from the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) Texas Conference. The ECNL Composite League would be a league developed in order to increase developmental opportunities for players to within the pool of ECNL. In addition, it would increase college exposure for the players within the ECNL pool of players through league matches and showcase events.
League Schedule
The ECNL Composite League would aim at coordinating the league schedule in conjunction with the match schedule of the ECNL Texas Conference. Thus, when a Texas Conference ECNL Club hosts another ECNL Club, it would also host the ECNL Composite League teams as well. The benefit to club members would be ease of staffing and administration of teams. Furthermore, on a college recruiting standpoint, it would ease the process for college coaches by hosting the entire pool of ECNL players at one site for observation.

U15 - Team Name: Lonestar SC 02G ECNL Composite
U17 - Team Name: Lonestar SC 00G ECNL Composite

Invited Members of the ECNL Composite League
ECNL Texas Conference Members Only:

Re: 03/02 Composite ECNL
So wait........ TSC signed all these girls to ecnl composite teams before there was any confirmation of a ECNL composite league?

Re: 03/02 Composite ECNL
I think what is being said above is that it's not sanctioned across the league but only in select markets. The fact that the entire Texas league is participating is a good sign that there was confirmation...

Re: 03/02 Composite ECNL
So, for the uninitiated among us...what's a composite ECNL team?

Re: 03/02 Composite ECNL
Yellow or 918, correct me if I'm wrong, but it's a team comprised of 02 and 03 birth years (not sure if there are min/max per age).
Their events are at the same dates and fields as the ECNL teams. For example, let's say Texans and Sting are coming up to Tulsa to play our ECNL teams, they will also bring their composite teams.
I don't think they will have standings, nor will they have an end of year tournament, and I think they may only go to one national event, but the level of competition is through the roof.
Also it allows for ECNL teams to draw from the composite team players when needed (if someone is hurt, out of town, etc)
And sounds like the Jr. ECNL is heading down this road as well.
Personally, this is HUGE for us!!! To have 3 DD's going to the same hotel vs three different tournaments and hotels will save us a ton of money. So if you have multiple DD's that can play at this level, this a big deal.

Re: 03/02 Composite ECNL
So, basically, a slightly lower tier of ECNL competition that will serve as a place to get more players into the system, see some high level regional competition and have more sub-development for the top level? Is that a decent summary? I don't get why you'd want to merge ages at that level but they know more than me about it so, I'll plead ignorance.
If you'll tell me I won't have to see these players CPP'ing at striker and center mid in the lower levels, I'm all in.

That's correct. No min or max on age but TSC composite is pretty even from what I hear.
You probably won't see them CPP on lower teams and the mix of age groups is really no different than what we were doing this past year... All of the kids are within a 2 year age grouping. That's not a huge deal in my opinion.

Re: 03/02 Composite ECNL
Tar heel they will also choose players from the SRPL also. Its not a given if you are on composite you will have first choice to guest for ECNL. Not all the best players are choosing to play composite. Many are staying in SRPL.

Re: 03/02 Composite ECNL
Oh yeah... couple more things. The composite team also practices x3 per week and during composite ECNL games, they will have the entire coaching staff on the sidelines just like the other ECNL teams. It also allows the club flexibility to move players on/off the ECNL/Composite teams.

Same type of player pass? That's cool, didn't know that. Makes sense, as there are plenty of weapons on those teams as well. Does that mean that ECNL guest players would be able to make an occasional appearance on SRPL teams, if needed?

Re: 03/02 Composite ECNL
SRPL will guest up with ECNL but I doubt you will see it the other way around... The SRPL teams will probably choose from the OPL Gold team for guesting purposes... Those coaches are about development and grooming players to step up into tougher roles... Not necessarily to have players step down.
Yeah Nixon was harsh... More of a Clinton type guy aren't you?

That's consistent with the latest information I have through my sources.
The latest info I have (as of Tuesday), is that the composite leagues(s) (PDL and/or Champions League), will be US Club sanctioned, run by LH, and will have no direct association with ECNL.
The exact makeup of each league (which clubs, what teams, age groups), and the competition format for each league are still being ironed out, but am told that the NTX ECNL clubs are all on board with LH and the general scope of the plan.
Of course... all that could have changed in the past 48 hours and/or could change again in the next 48... drunken

That was from the NTX board from bwgophers, who usually seems to know what's going on. Hope he's wrong on this one....

But it won't be affiliated with ECNL?

Re: 03/02 Composite ECNL
Interesting... If that's the case then they probably should have just had those players play in their own age group on SRPL teams. Hopefully it is still affiliated and on the same weekends at the same places, etc...

if it's not affiliated with ECNL, I imagine there will be some ticked off parents.
