OPL Fall Brackets U12 Empty OPL Fall Brackets U12

Post by soccerschmuck Fri Jul 03, 2015 2:26 pm

Can someone explain this nonsense. 2 8v8 teams from last year in Gold automatically. TSC (2nd team/Now Parker/was Winters) and Blitz have to have a play in tournament and only one gets in Gold. SLSC automatically in Silver. Does this make sense to anyone else? How does 8v8 teams get in over 11v11 teams that were very competitive last year? What is OSA doing? Plus I figured TSC (1st team /now Griffin/was kitterman) would be playing up.

Don't don't be surprised to see this changed. They tried to pull a fast one. Email at 4:25 close office got weekend at 4:30. This is enough to drive the clubs to form their own league on US Club. This shows gross incompetence on OSA. Stuff like this is why clubs keep contemplating leaving OSA for US Club.

Stupid Thing is play in requiring 2015 rosters. Blitz and many other teams don't have enough of those players on their roster to even form a team right now.

Idiots! That's all OSA is. Nothing more than continued display of their stupidity (ie., playing over the winter and playing state cup in monsoon aftermath in Edmond).

Also. Top tier of OPL is worthless from a competition standpoint

Not sure what the thinking is behind these brackets, but it does nothing to promote competetion and development. OSA needs to go back to the drawing board and rethink these brackets.

SLSC04, Blitz retained most of their players from last year and were more than able to form a solid team. Meanwhile, TSC Parker lost more players than Blitz & TSC Amos had a lot of changes on their roster as well. Both of those TSC teams will still be very good, and lets not spread rumors that Blitz can't form a team. Blitz will be very competitive this season.

I think SLSC got shafted in this deal more than anyone. So I understand your frustration. Let's just pray that OSA comes to their senses or that a new league forms in the next month.

This is CRAZY considering Blitz beat Amos 3-0 and Norman 4-0 this season! They are dropping the level of competition big time and giving gold to two teams that haven't earned it! And putting Amos over Parker/Winters??? MAKES NO SENSE! Norman and Amos should be playing for that spot in gold, they chose to wimp out and play 8v8 all year (against way less competition, all of the real completion played 11v11).

At least blitz and Parker get a chance to play for a spot. Slsc just gets the boot, that's stupid we would crush the two teams coming up from 8v8 and then allowing 3 and 4 from silver to play in play in tourney over Slsc is just stupid.

Amazing.....

So SLSC is dropped to Silver and either Winters or Blitz will be joining us?

What a cluster.

I agree with the placement being goofy.... Blitz and TSCH Winters got hosed. Yes both teams had a bunch of changes but we won't know the impact of that until they play some games. What we do know is SLSC played in the league and finished 5th and didn't win a game at state cup. If OSA was doing the 5 team thing last year and we assume 8v8 was basically the silver division then Kitterman, OFC, Winters and Blitz all stay in... SLSC gets dropped and NYSA since they won their league gets moved to the top division. So I do not see how SLSC got hosed. They had their chance to show they should be there and sit where they would get demoted. Now someone else gets a chance to see if they can compete.

I would not consider 8v8 comparable to playing 11v11 in a silver division. The 8v8 teams need to prove themselves first at 11v11 before being moved past SLSC.

I guess they could've played 11v11 in state and not won a game also... What did that prove?

Unfortunately you argument has a fatal flaw.  In every other age group the top 5 from the previous year stayed in Gold OPL regardless of silver teams.  Also, we could run numbers which would mean that the league was very tight. What you don't know is one weekend SLSC played OFC and Winters with 4 starters injured or sick.   Take a win against winters (whose parents even tell you it was a great game) and take away OFC's forfeit against Kitterman and all of a sudden SLSC is second.

Further, this is not rocket science.   The top 5 teams are head and shoulders above the rest. Norman has never even remotely came within a win to SLSC and we got what we believe was hands down their best player.

What we have is an Executive board with no knowledge of the teams making choices not in the best interests for the competition.  They didn't call the coaches.  They didn't seek input.  They didn't use common sense.

Lets take Arsenal.   I would bet money they would be Norman and probably Amos in 11 v 11 at this point.

In the end, if this stands its a shame.   Its a joke and makes OSA look horrible.  It furthers the undercurrent that the major clubs should go US Club and form their own league as OSA has shown a complete inability to administer to the needs of the kids and competition.

***as to my earlier comment on blitz I misunderstood the rules and thought you had to use last years team for the little tournament thingy.

As to the tournament.  Lets see, cancel your vacations, get your uniforms, take away the kids summer to practice.

Its all a joke

try playing against good competition with 2 of 4 of your defensive line out with broken bones. Its not quite as easy as you think. Look at the whole year.

Look at the whole year... SLSC was 5th.... If we just look at the games between the top 5 what was SLSC record?

The rules to determine opl gold for u-12 was in place when slsc chose to play 11s last fall. They didn't get enough points to be placed in u12 gold. So go play silver and beat those teams and move up to gold in the spring.

Were they? If they were there really isn't much reason to complain and you are correct in that SLSC will most likely be back gold in spring. I didn't realize they would cut all but the top 2......and I think that was news to many.

. Um those were the rules. They changed just this year. We would love to play Norman 11 v 11. Would even spot you a few goals.
