Re: Most improved 04 team?
Maybe TSC Parker? Looks like they have recently "gelled" looking at their most recent game scores. Shame they will have to start all over again with a new team, but I guess everyone will.

I agree. Think they play Blitz in state cup prelims today. Should be a fun match to watch.

Griffin is usually on all cylinders all the time.. Parker and Carreno have hit their stride at the right time!!

Gotta be Parker. As soon as they had the mid-season player swap with Amos it all came together for them. Seemed to be the missing piece they needed.

Amos beat OFC 2-0? I think they may tie Parker for most improved.

Re: Most improved 04 team?
Yeah, but the Amos victory gets them the "*". Since that Amos* team had 3 Griffin guest players on it. Good victory for them, but we have to call it like it is when the CPP is maxed out.

Re: Most improved 04 team?
Actually it was just 2 that attended and players where selected from that group because they are still training for Super Copa and have completed tryouts for ECNL and Pre ECNL teams. Other players are busy going thru age group sessions. Total players that atteneded the game was 14.... Amos actually offered to count the result from State Cup but OFC's coach demanded that they play it because they hadn't played enough games this season.

OFC missing two forwards and an attacking mid yesterday. Pulled up two 2nd team players today.

Well we all know OF.C can do whatever they want and OSA/OFC will be fine with it

Re: Most improved 04 team?
Sorry, there's a big difference between calling up girls from your #2 (OPL II) team and calling on girls from your top ECNL team since they're playing up. Plenty of other girls Amos could've called on (Harding, Carreno, etc.). It is what it is. Good win for them, but that * still applies.

Re: Most improved 04 team?
Forget all the astericks and crap. This is what i was talking about the previous few weeks where none of this matter. Like SLSC, my understanding was OFC was missing quite a few players. This game mattered for nothing to the players and coaches. You can take these results with a grain of salt as to their "meaning" or purposes of development. IMO, OSA greatly screwed the pooch with scheduling et al this year. It baffles me still why OPL gold is not a year long league consisting of 16 games (8 in the fall and 8 in spring) which would give managers and coaches plenty of time to fix their schedules and ensure teams 5 -7 are having their opportunities to advance in the league. Teams 9 - 14 are never gonna sniff SRPL et al.
Now to TSC. I don't get why you would play kids with AMOS from your top team. It may be nothing but to the outsider looking in something doesn't smell right. In my experience TSC is the only team that continually does this and I truthfully cannot see how it helps developmentally et al.

I heard that Amos offered to have state cup pool game count as that 5/21 OPL game, but OFC coach refused, and was pretty clear that they wanted to play. Doesn't sound like it "mattered nothing" to OFC.

Re: Most improved 04 team?
You heard! Do we know if OSA would allow that after the fact? For a game card to be filled out officials have to be there and fill it out. Unless asked for before state cup OSA couldn't feasibly allow this. Further, OFC might have wanted to play it for purposes of other players or other reasons. Who knows why. Still doesn't mean it mattered to the players and coaches!Rico S wrote:ENERGYFC04 wrote: This game mattered for nothing to the players and coaches.

Again, not being demeaning to any team or player but there is a reason there are some really skewed results at the end of the year IMO. To describe it as meaningful for OFC or even Amos is to extrapolate things we most likely don't know.
Again, my frustration is not at OFC, Amos, SLSC or Parker. We all played the hand we were dealt. My problem is how OSA has done this and basically made OPL in the spring worthless to most teams and players. It was a waste of our money. This is on OSA and their continued lack of foresight.

Re: Most improved 04 team?
The offer to count the state cup game was not after the fact it was once the state cup schedule came out... and Amos has not done this before in league play. I was told that basically the players that had guest played in the past did not want to drive to OKC for a game, where busy with Age Group Training or where out of school and off on summer vacations. This game was scheduled so late and so far past State Cup. So he went with players that where still training and more dedicated. I am sure it had an impact but this falls back on the old discussion around you can take 2 - 3 strong players off a top team and stick them on an avg team and they are able to compete with the stronger teams in the state.

Re: Most improved 04 team?
I have no dog in this fight and won't really debate what people have and have not heard as to the scenario that played out. My points or facts as i saw them are simple:
1. OSA messed up yet again in how they are doing things.
2. I wasted my money for Spring OPL
3. Results this late spring are rather skewed.
4. TSC is the only team i personally see moving kids off top team to lower teams -not sure how this helps anyone's development.
In defense of TSC Amos et al was locked into its place. Maybe they wanted the prestige of having Parker finish first and thus needed Amos to win. That said, again, this meant nothing in the grand scheme of things.
