2015 State Cup U11 11v11

Might as well kick this topic off...

Several questions, observations and predictions.

I'm guessing it is just us seven (unlikely a team that has been playing 8v8 is going to play 11v11 for this). So if standings hold, would this be how playoff would look?

#1 TSC Kitterman gets a first round bye
#2 OFC vs #7 Blitz Navy
#3 TSC Winters vs #6 OK Arsenal
#4 Blitz vs #5 SLSC

Predictions...
#1 TSC Kitterman vs #4 Blitz
#2 OFC vs #3 TSC Winters

State Cup Championship Game...
#1 TSC Kitterman vs #2 OFC

Upset Alert...
TSC Winters over OFC

IMHO... You would think that both TSC Winters and Blitz would want to see that protested forfeit game between OFC and TSC Kitterman be played also. It has the distinct possibility of changing the bracket. Without that game, OFC would have 28 points and both TSC Winters and Blitz have 27 each, all with one game left. A #2 seed by either one would keep them from playing both Kitterman or OFC till the championship game. 

Seems the only ones that don't want that game played is OFC.

Questions...Who gets the tie-breaker between TSC Winters and Blitz? Are the current standings reflective of that tie-breaker?

Anyone else heard of one of the seven teams not going to play in the State Cup? Not sure if it's rumor or not.

I'd wonder about Norman...they have been playing a lot of 11v11 in tournaments. But I don't think they do it.

Don't know if anyone would, but hypothetically could any team move up or down if that bracket wasn't already full?

Interesting note... (Not counting the appealed forfeit) the top four teams each have one game left.  1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3, could be a preview of the semi's.

Could Winters drop to 4 and Blitz jump to 3?  
What is the tiebreaker between the 2?

If Winters loses last game against OFC then they drop to number 4 and Blitz moves to 3.

Looks like Winters came through and won against OFC. So the State Cup seeding will be Kitterman #1 with a bye, OFC #2, Winters #3, and Blitz #4 as it now stands. Congratulations to Kitterman 04 for a great season and winning the OPL extended season!! They worked hard and deserved it! Also, "great job" goes out to all the girls on all the teams! Tournament season is upon us now, so lots to talk about in the coming months (not to mention tryouts!!)...

OH, also, OFC....now that it doesn't matter, you guys gonna reschedule that fake forfeit so the girls can play the game? I guess you could lose and then drop a bit in seeding for State Cup, so I'm guessing you'll still try to avoid playing it....C'mon guys...LetTheKidsPlay!

Are Blitz and Kitterman playing their last game?

I hope so.... I think that all the girls should get all the touches they can before the end of season!

I've seen "bye" mentioned a few times in regards to state cup. I don't believe any team gets a bye in state cup?

I was going by what Tarheel said given the fact that there will probably only be 7 teams in state cup...odd number usually means a bye, but maybe not in State Cup...?

I think there will only be 6 teams, unless an 8v8 team decides to play 11v11 for state cup, which is doubtful. Clinton is out and I don't believe Blitz Navy will play in state cup.

Curious to see how they do it myself. I thought 2nd weekend was semis and finals, , but I was told, final weekend is only for finals.

That wasn't even the one I heard about. State could end up being only 5 teams when it's said and done.  Possible play-in game between #4 and #5? (Blitz vs SLSC). Winner playing TSC Kitterman???

I believe it will actually only be 5 teams. I don't think Arsenal, Blitz navy or Clinton will be in it. Last year in u14 girls they only had 5 teams, and they did it where everyone played everyone 1st weekend and two top teams based on points advanced to finals weekend:

Okay. Tar Heel is right. That would be very interesting if that happens.

Seems crazy to do that though. By doing that, you deemed the regular season pointless. So not only does the top seed not get a bye, they don't even get the advantage with seeding. However, clearly they've done it before, so definitely can happen again. Craziness. .. lol

Is Winters playing 8v8 in state cup or did OSA get Norman and Winters mixed up? Showing Norman 11v11 and Winters 8v8?

OSA will be moving Winters to State 11v11. Not sure on NYSA. OSA is currently working on President's Cup bracketing.

What screw job on scheduling for the Tulsa teams. No bias here, huh? Guess that would explain why the "forfeit" between Kitterman and OFC 04 never got addressed....Are we supposed to just hang out in our cars all day Sunday until 8:00PM before we play the home town team who've been resting comfortably at home in bed all day? Guess so....OSA should really address this as it looks really bad. Saturday night not so good, either....

I hope none of our kids have tests or anything on that Monday. Sunday is going to be a late night for our kids.
