OSA Needs New Leadership
I've posted this in two spots as its worthy of mentioning the absolute joke that OSA is. OSA's explanation for how they came to the seedings in the 04 boys and girls bracket is that they used the points per game method (if you look on their website there is pdf for each age group with this). Essentially, they took the 4 teams with the highest PPG and then let the others play in.
The fault in this method is there are not common opponents as they only used OPL games and didn't factor anything else in. So you play weaker opponents and win more your PPG is higher. They gave equal weight between the 11 v 11 bracket and the 8 v 8 bracket. Further, they didn't apply the same analysis in other age groups. If they had those Gold divisions would look totally different.
OSA also has the gall to say they believe the 4 best teams have spots in the top tier. What they are saying is TSC coaches are idiots as their third team must be better than their second team.
Shame on OSA. You did not discuss this with coaches and are not resorting to lies and propaganda to support this. There needs to be a change of leadership at OSA or Oklahoma clubs should explore forming their own leagues through US Club.

Re: OSA Needs New Leadership
I was hoping for a reasonable rationale for their choices. This "method" is so faulty is laughable. You would have thought they could have come up with some better excuse than this. Either they are incompetent or there is something else behind the scenes that has occurred.

I see SLSC has two people on the west side committee. I would start with them to get your questions answered.

It wasn't discussed in those meetings. This was a top choice of the executives. This option was not discussed with coaches or doc et al.

Why are South Lakes folks complaining? It seemed that you whined your way into the playins. If OSA had stuck to their guns you wouldn't even have that opportunity. Just be thankful they changed their minds and let you play. OSA does really suck, but just be glad for what you have.

They are complaining for the same reason all 04 teams should be complaining. OSA changed the rules mid-stream.

Re: OSA Needs New Leadership
I would hope that I would complain whether it was my DD team or any other given the insanity of OSA's decision making decisions these last few years. OSA is suppose to be the governing organization of Oklahoma Soccer and should have the competence to make rational decisions in the best interest of our youth. The evidence suggests otherwise.
The 04 situation has demonstrated (amongst other instances) their inability to effectively govern Oklahoma soccer and make rational decisions. No matter the outcomes of this weekend games the fact is Norman and Amos did not earn the opportunity to have a guaranteed spot in the newly formed OPL Gold. The OSA decision makers attempt to pretend like they looked at objective evidence is laughable at best and again demonstrates incompetence.
We can remain silent and watch this incompetence manifest itself yearly or parents and clubs can take a stand. This is our organization funded by our dues. There has to be accountability.

OSA always changes the rules midstream. That's what they do. It sucks, but we live with it. Parker and Blitz should probably be the ones on this board complaining. Cause if OSA hadn't changed their minds in SLSC's favor there wouldn't be a need for a play-in. They would both advance to OPL I and that would be it. Like I said, be thankful for what you got because they are at least giving you an opportunity. Some folks (like the 05 group) are getting shafted much worse.

Re: OSA Needs New Leadership
Look at the rules, especially roster rules, for 05's playing up. They are limited to an 8v8 roster size and are really hampered by additional player pass rules. They are making it extremely difficult on groups that want to go 11v11 and play up.
Also consider that they did this after teams were already set. So some 05 teams rostered more girls or were planning on player passing girls in for flexibility. That's all gone now. The rules make them hard roster at least 13 girls and can have no more than 14. That's a hard cap at 14 too.

Re: OSA Needs New Leadership
the idea they changed it in SLSC favor assumes it was done for that. In the same context the changed rules were made in Amos and Norman favor. My point is OSA logic and reasoning was and is flawed. They are saying TSC coaches are clueless in evaluating their teams et al. This was done wrong in the first place. It wasn't rocket science yet OSA made it that way. Why? They are either incompetent or something behind the scenes is driving this. Either way OSA should be ashamedRoughneck04 wrote:OSA always changes the rules midstream. That's what they do. For anyone looking to see how this S*ht-show by OSA plays out and wants to watch, Parker and Blitz at 7pm at Keas in Bixby on Friday 7/24. Parker has to turn around and travel to Cosmos for an 11am game Saturday.

I think its safe to say OSA does not want TSC to succeed.

Re: OSA Needs New Leadership
TSC has already somewhat succeeded by their 3rd string team trumping their second string team... suprised Parker isn't more upset about that!

Yes, 2-0 Blitz. Looks like Blitz may be the team to beat! Will be interesting to see them play SLSC today.

Now hopefully the whining can stop.. It's SLCS to lose... If SLSC does win today will they still play the blitz game?
